Lamar is a multi-talented singer-songwriter / musician. Mostly known for his guitar work, he is also an accomplished fiddler, banjo picker, and mandolin player as well.
His CD's, "Caught Up In the Moment" and “Missin’ Kissin’ You” are now available for purchase by clicking the link above. The title cut, "Missin' Kissin' You" reached # 9 on Ireland's Top 10 Country Chart. It also reached # 68 on the European Country Charts (ECMA). The album is filled with guitars, fiddles, banjos, and mandolins, all of which are played by Lamar himself. Also from the album, Start Over Again reached # 313 On the ECMA Charts. Recently, a single release, "Caught Up In the Moment" reached # 22 on Israel's Country Music Chart.
With exception of the two instrumentals on the first album, Lamar wrote all the tunes. With help of his good friend, Clay Willett, together co-wrote Doin' Without, which is also Lamar's current video. He also wrote three of the songs on his latest album, "Caught Up In the Moment", "Just One More Night", & "You Were My Best Friend."
Lamar fiddled his way into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame / Hall of Honor in 2002. He currently resides in Calhoun, Georgia, just north of Atlanta. Lamar has performed with his new found Singing Cowboy hero, R.W. Hampton in March of 2009. He has also performed with the fabulous Kip Calahan. He spent a few years in the Memphis area, playing Bluegrass and Gospel music in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Then a little while in the big state of Texas, yeah!
Lamar has recorded with the Bluegrass Gospelaires of Memphis, and Bob Harvey (of Jefferson Airplane Fame) and Georgia Blue. He also performs regularly with Georgia's Official Cowboy Balladeer, Doc Stovall and the New Tumbleweed Cowboy Band. He can also be found recording at Echota Studio in Calhoun, Georgia working for artists such as Donna Ray, Charlie Byrd, Ed Gowens, Tim Hicks and Maybelle Knight. Did I mention Donna Ray?
He's also appeared in three of Donna Ray's videos: Please Save Me, Camp Joy, and Picking Up the Pieces of My Mind. filmed on location and in conjunction with Colt Records and Echota Recording Studios.
